Aiding Sudanese Affected by War
Hello
Grace Organization is a non-profit organization registered in the United States of America. The organization was established to provide aid, relief, food, and medicine to those affected by the war in Sudan, assist Sudanese residing in the United States of America, and build strong relationships with the local community through active civic participation. This is a place to share our story and let our supporters know more about our mission and the impact we aim to create.
An Unprecedented Humanitarian Catastrophe in El Fasher, Sudan
Caught between the hammer of siege and the anvil of starvation or execution, El Fasher, the largest city in Sudan's Darfur region, is experiencing a catastrophic humanitarian situation. This follows the Rapid Support Forces' (RSF) announcement of their complete control over the city after the Sudanese army withdrew following a siege that lasted over 500 days. The siege resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians and the displacement of tens of thousands more, creating conditions considered the worst in the region's history.
The Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission confirmed that more than 2,000 civilians, mostly women, children, and the elderly, were killed in the past two days as a result of summary executions and attacks on hospitals and shelters. Several doctors and volunteers have also gone missing after being abducted by militias affiliated with the RSF.
The organization warned of widespread malnutrition and epidemic diseases among the besieged population, emphasizing that more than half of Sudan's population is currently suffering from acute food insecurity.
For her part, the head of the UNHCR office in Sudan, Jacqueline Parlevliet, confirmed that more than 260,000 civilians are still trapped inside El Fasher without food, medicine or safe passage, noting that about 26,000 people have managed to flee in recent days in precarious conditions.
